It’s Day 4 of A Giant Murder by Marji Lane, the second book in the Ever After Mystery series. You can read yesterday’s post over at Cathe Swanson’s blog!
Beaned by Research
“I’m sorry,” I said, staring at my friend on the other side of Facebook Messenger. “I don’t think I heard you correctly.”
She rolled her eyes. “You heard me. Come on. I’ll never tell a soul. I know you’ve done the research. You are, after all, the Research Queen.”
“I need that on a t-shirt,” I muttered, then a bit louder, “You’ll have to be more specific. I’ve got lots of research from how to fly at night in a biplane (don’t do it), to using lily of the valley as poison (don’t eat it), to using ancient tattoo instruments (don’t move). I’ve got so much research I’m surprised the NSA hasn’t raided my house and appropriated my laptop.”
“I’d be happy to share any of that with you.” I spread my hands then leaned back in my chair. “Just tell me whatcha need.”
If I could overwhelm her with all the research (okay just some of it because it’s a lot of information) maybe she’d let it drop.
“Just hand it over,” she said, shaking her head. “I won’t tell anyone you spilled the beans.”
“Sorry! Can’t help you!” I started making static noises and muting my mic on and off. “I think” static “connection is” mute mic “in and out! Maybe try” static noise “Chautona.” And I hit the cancel call button as fast as I could.
Phew. That was close. At least I didn’t spill the beans. Maybe Chautona Havig did?

The Newest Ever After Mystery, A Giant Murder, by Marji Laine is now available! Be sure to head over to Chautona’s post tomorrow to see if she actually spilled the beans!
