Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 1, 2018
So, what kind of information do I collect? And when do I collect it?
I collect personal information like your name and email address when you sign up for my newsletter, comment on a blog post, or send me a note through my contact form. My site may also collect information on user demographics and traffic as well as IP addresses.
How will I use your information?
Some or all of this information is used to:
- Improve my site to better serve you
- Ask for rating and reviews of services or products
- Contact you after correspondence by email
- Send you email updates and newsletters
I may even use it to set up a contest, promotion, or survey, too!
Okay, but what about cookies?
They’re delicious. Particularly oatmeal raisin cookies with crispy edges and nice soft centers. Oh. Not those kind of cookies, huh?
Fine. Yes, I use cookies – the small files that help remember your browser preferences kind, not the delicious kind – to help me offer you better services, tools, and information. You can turn off all cookies in your browser settings if you like. It won’t affect how you experience my site.
Is your information safe?
My site uses SSL to make sure a secure connection. And, just like a computer, my site runs a firewall and malware software. However, if the unimaginable happens and there’s a data breach, I’ll send an email out within three days to let you know. The policy will get updated, though, with the information within twenty-four hours.
Do I use Google Analytics?
Yes, I do. The information it gathers – like demographics and user interests – helps me figure out how to best serve you. Google uses Google analytics cookies to compile data about user interactions and other service functions as they relate to my website.
Don’t worry. You can opt-out of Google Analytics reporting! You can set preferences for how Google advertises to you using the Google Ad Settings page. Alternatively, you can opt out by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative Opt-Out page or by using the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
Wait. Who gets your information, then?
I love sharing with you and, sometimes, that means you may have to trust me with your personal information. I’m honored, by the way, and I promise not to sell it to anyone else. It irritates me to no end that some people do that and I refuse to do it to others.
However, there may be times when I include or offer third-party products or services and to do so, I may need to share some of your information with them. If that happens, I’ll let you know up front before you click on anything.
When will I update my privacy policy?
Good question. I’ll review it yearly and then update it as needed. You’ll know it’s been updated when the “effective date” at the top of the page has changed!
A Note About GDPR
AprilHayman.com proudly runs on WordPress and uses a variety of awesome plugins to help make your experience the best that it can be. As such, the site may need personal information – like IP addresses and other information – to make that happen. At this time, none of the plug-ins that I use have mentioned how they will handle GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) and your personal information. When they do, I will update this privacy policy.
